BALANCERS are nutrient dense and carry a balanced supply of micronutrients. They are particularly useful when quantities fed of any compound ration are limited - for various reasons, and also when the nutrient value and quantity of forage is low.
Balancers supply a concentrated "top up" of important micronutrients. Minerals and vitamins rarely work in isolation but interact extensively, so they must be supplied in correct proportions. In some cases too much of a good thing can be as bad as too little e.g. an excessive intake of Vitamin A has been associated with bone fragility and inadequate supplies of both Vitamin E and the mineral Calcium have a suggested involvement with "Tying Up"/ Azoturia.
